Learning a foreign language isn’t just about being able to speak.
It isn’t going through a coursebook or passing an exam. It is about diving into the culture, discovering yourself, and feeling free in the atmosphere.
With such a mentality you don’t stress about the grammar or vocabulary, you just live in the moment experiencing the language, life.
That is why I invited my graffiti artist student, Vasya, to tag my office. I get an epic mural that teens will dig.
Vasya gets to experience English in the moment, simply speaking without having to be correct. He even gets practice speaking English while being distracted by his painting.
Expressing himself through language and art has shown him that he really is great at English. His confidence goes up because he has first-hand experience of using English in the real world.

Since this topic, graffiti, is close to his heart, he has a lot to say. He is proud to show off his artistic abilities and gets to show off his English. Even picking up some new words connecting his art world to his English world in a perfect blend.

I proud of his graffiti, the progress he has made in English, of the bright future that awaits him.
